Inspiring and thought provoking are what come to mind when I recall our meeting with RIGO 23.  On a whim (arranged by The New Museum) RIGO 23 visited Beacon to have a conversation with my students about well, anything and everything.  It was at his request that I did not show my students any of his work.  RIGO wanted the meeting to be a discussion, “maybe about art and maybe not”.

During their lunch about 15 art/photo students came by to see who this artist was who did not want to talk about art.  Our conversation went from discussions about consumerism to law enforcement, the military and how one walks through the world what inspires oneself and what keeps you motivated.

It was an informal and personal conversation in which my students were able to talk with RIGO freely about their views and opinions on how they see the world and in turn he offered his own insight.

He was inspiring and he kept my students thinking long after the meeting.  Two students even hung around after the discussion to get more of a one on one talk with RIGO 23.
